Dr. Ibrahim AlShunaifi is a lead project at the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Saudi Arabia (C4IR), a World Economic Forum Affiliate Centre supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. He has extensive expertise in digital transformation and previously served as the Director of the Technical Transfer Office at KACST’s Innovation Center for Industry 4.0. Dr. AlShunaifi is also a Certified SIRI Assessor and leads the lighthouses initiative at C4IR.
His research interests include thermal plasma, waste treatment, external combustion, and Industry 4.0, contributing to sustainable waste management and enhancing combustion engine efficiency. Dr. AlShunaifi has numerous publications, patents, and industrial designs in these fields.
Before his role at KACST, he was a Senior Engineer at the Royal Saudi Navy Forces and served as a diplomatic agent at the Saudi Embassy in France from 2003 to 2011, where he fostered diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and France. He actively contributed to strategies related to Vision 2030 and is a member of the Saudi Combustion Institute.
Since 2014, Dr. AlShunaifi has been an Associate Research Professor at KACST. He holds a PhD in Energy from Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense University (2011), an MSc in Naval Architecture from Ecole Nationale ENSIETA (1998), and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from l’Université de Bretagne-Occidentale (1995). He has mentored many individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
